Mark
Duggan Percussion
Mark Duggan is a versatile performer and composer
active in many genres. His passionate blend of classical,
jazz and world percussion has impressed audiences
from the Tongyeong Music Festival in Korea to the
Lincoln Center in New York. Duggan has performed with
the Philip Glass Ensemble, Toronto New Music Concerts,
Soundstreams, Ensemble Intercontemporain de Paris
and Pierre Boulez, the Toronto Symphony, National
Ballet of Canada Orchestra, Esprit Orchestra and he
is a regular performer at the Scotia Festival of Music.
Duggan has also appeared with many jazz and pop artists
including Diana Krall, Charlie Haden, Maria Schneider,
Petula Clark, Maryem Tollar, Bernardo Padrón
Group, Brazilian guitarist Celso Machado, and the
percussion group NEXUS as well as with his own group,
Vuja dé. Duggan is a founding member of the
Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan (since 1983) which
has performed throughout Canada, Europe, Asia and
the US.
As a composer Duggan has been commissioned by the
percussion quintet Nexus, the Evergreen Club Gamelan,
the chamber group Sanctuary, Roots Orchestra, the
Madawaska String Quartet, percussionist Morris Palter
and choreographers Susan Lee and Maxine Heppner. His
compositions for percussion have been performed around
the world and his work Three Americas was a finalist
in the 2006 Quey Percussion Competition. Duggan has
released five CDs of his own music which have been
twice nominated by both the Juno and East Coast Music
Awards.
