Electro/Acoustic

MUSIC FOR HUMANS AND MACHINES

Enwave Theatre, Harbourfront Centre

Since the middle of the 20th century, electroacoustic music has allowed composers to utilize a palette of sounds as extensive as the soundscape of modern life. This program brings together some of the most exciting music by contemporary composers - all composed for live musicians and electronically generated sounds. The program will feature Steal The Thunder - a thrilling work by Jean Piché for timpani and tape; works by Istvan Marta and Michael Daugherty for string quartet and tape; a new piece by Jonathan Goldsmith incorporating recordings of chain gang songs from the southern United States for chamber sextet and tape; and In The Fire of Conflict - a work by Christos Hatzis for marimba and tape featuring choreography by Peggy Baker.
