A Festival of Protest Music

The power of music to galvanize a movement and inspire resistance is highlighted in a program that reaches across genre, historical context, and message.  

The Classical & Folk Program (May 11) features e George Crumb's Black Angels for string quartet backed by a live film mix, plus music by Kurt Weill, Bob Dylan, and Dmitri Shostakovich.

The Songs Program (May 10 & 12) includes music by Nina Simone, John Lennon, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Bruce Cockburn, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, and so many more. 


The Rolston Quartet's appearance is supported in part by the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity through the Banff International String Quartet Competition.
