Jackie Richardson is an award winning actress and one of Canada’s foremost singers of gospel, blues and jazz whose career includes performances in radio, recordings, commercials, theatre, film, TV and live concerts. She has travelled across Canada performing in all the major cities and forces bases as well as countries around the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, The West Indies, Lebanon, France, South Pacific Islands and The USA.  Jackie has also received NAACP, Juno, Betty, Dora, Jessie, Gemini, TBS Lifetime Achievement and Canadian Black Lifetime Achievement Awards and Nominations. Recently Jackie was honoured to be chosen by the Toronto Star newspaper, in their Commemoration of Toronto’s 180th Birthday, as one of the 180 people they
considered to have in someway helped to shape the city. She recorded a duet “New York Stories” with Micah Barnes (The Nylons) and sang “Weeping” on Bruce Cassidy’s (Blood Sweat & Tears) solo CD. September 2014, the CD Just Passing Through: The Breithaupt Brothers Songbook was released with Jackie singing the title song. She hosted the award nominated Jazz FM Radio Series “Identities - Musicians Who Chose Canada” (she is currently recording the second season). Jackie also received a Critics award for her portrayal of Big Mama Thornton at The Festival in Ottawa/Gatineau 2013). February 2014 found Jackie touring The North West Territories with Joe Sealy’s Africville Stories and this year she returns to The North Land with her daughter, Kim Richardson to perform their show “Mother and Daughter Reunion” . She is also excited about being artist in residence at Soul Pepper and performing in all of the 2015 concerts.
