Laura Mayo Appointed Executive Director

of the Art of Time Ensemble

TORONTO, November 22 — Laura Mayo has been announced as the new Executive Director of Toronto-based Art of Time Ensemble, effective immediately.

Mayo joins the organization after almost five years at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, most recently as Director of Pops and Special Concerts, as well as six years at the Southbank Centre in London, UK and eight years in artist management in both London and Toronto.  Mayo is a graduate of the University of Toronto and earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Policy and Management at City University, London.

"We are delighted to welcome Laura to the team here at the Art of Time Ensemble," said Board Chair, Margaret Grottenthaler.  "Laura's strengths in strategic planning, marketing, revenue generation, and project management make her an ideal complement to our Founder and Artistic Director, Andrew Burashko, and we are excited by the synergistic potential this new partnership holds out."

"I couldn't be more enthusiastic about what lies ahead," said newly appointed Executive Director Laura Mayo.  "Art of Time Ensemble has built an extraordinary record over the past 20 years, and I can't wait to help bring the brilliance and originality of its programming to a larger public."

About Art of Time Ensemble:

Through engaging, dynamic and utterly unique performances and collaborations, Art of Time Ensemble fuses classical music, in its many forms, with other genres including jazz, pop, electronica, rock, folk, electroacoustic, and gospel to reveal the qualities that lie at the heart of all great music.

Founded in 1998 by renowned concert pianist Andrew Burashko, who invited a group of like-minded musicians and prominent figures in dance, theatre and other art forms to perform one-off concerts in Toronto, Art of Time Ensemble has gone on to become a leader in Toronto’s vibrant performing arts scene.

Art of Time Ensemble performs through a subscription season at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre in Toronto. The company also performs regularly at Toronto’s Koerner Hall, and tours extensively through Canada and the U.S., often playing with leading Canadian orchestras.
