LAURENCE LEMIEUX

Laurence was born in Quebec City and received her training at l'Ecole Superieure de danse du Quebec and later at the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre, joining TDT in 1986. For almost fifteen years she was featured in works by David Earle, Peter Randazzo, Patricia Beatty and Christopher House. 

She has also danced for such choreographers as Tere O'Connor, Margie Gillis, William Douglas, Jean-Pierre Perreault and Benoit Lachambre. In 1998, she performed a solo created by Christopher House, Cryptoversa, winning a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Performance in Dance.

She presented her first choreography in 1983, and has since created more than 25 works. She co-founded and now co-directs Coleman Lemieux and Compagnie, with Bill Coleman. Laurence has taught in Toronto at TDT's school and at the National Ballet School and in Quebec at Concordia University, University of Quebec in Montreal and L'Ecole Superieure de Ballet Contemporain. Laurence's satisfaction as an artist comes from sharing her passion and talent with dance audiences and students and as a deeply engaged and active member of the dance community.
