MICHAEL OCCHIPINTI

An eight-time Juno Award nominee, guitarist/composer Michael Occhipinti is the eclectic mind behind Shine On: The Universe of John Lennon, The Sicilian Jazz Project, Neufeld-Occhipinti Jazz Orchestra, The Triodes, and Creation Dream: The Songs of Bruce Cockburn. Michael is also the Artistic Director for the Markham Jazz Festival.

Michael Occhipinti's inventive approach to creative music of all kinds has allowed him to work with musicians across many genres including jazz, chamber music, funk, Sicilian music, and anything involving modern guitar sounds.

Michael is a respected arranger and composer, and has written music for The Gryphon Trio, The Chestnut Hall Camerata, Kellylee Evans, and Art of Time Ensemble. He has performed with ensembles and individuals as diverse as The National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, Array Music, Bruce Cockburn, among others. Michael also teaches jazz ensembles at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
