RYAN BOORNE


Ryan Boorne trained at the National Ballet School and the Quinte Ballet School, graduating in 1989. In 1992, he joined the National Ballet of Canada, becoming a second soloist in 1996, first soloist in 1997 and principal dancer in 2001. There he created many roles, including Emil in An Italian Straw Hat, the general in Firebird, Glenn 5 in A Disembodied Voice and Benno in Swan Lake, all choreographed by James Kudelka. Ryan also performed leading roles in Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Les Sylphides, Coppelia, and others. He has been featured in works by choreographers Kenneth MacMillan, Glen Tetley, Yuri Killian, and Jerome Robbins. Since leaving the National Ballet of Canada in 2007, Ryan has performed with Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, first at the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival and most recently, in 15 Heterosexual Duets and In Paradisum, both created by James Kudelka.
